Dear sir, I am indeed happy to be a part of this great forum. I would like to know on why is pH of demineralised water increased to 9-10 before feeding a boiler?( though any scale & corrosion forming components are removed before feeding). I have heard that Iron corrosion rates are minimum at this pH range. If any one of you differ from mine, let me know the real scenario? Regards, M.Panneer

Panneer: Demin (DI) water has had its minerals removed, but tends to be low in pH (5-6) and still contains oxygen. Raising the pH lowers its corrosiveness. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

Thanks sir. But my mixed bed demineraliser outlet pH is 6.8 to 7.2. I would like to know whether water is still "corrosive" ?(due to high oxygen). By the by , i have heard the relationship of O2 solubility with temperature. does amount of O2 has a relation with pH? Awaiting your reply. Regards, M.Panneer
