We are working with a Licensor FGD package. SO2 is scrubbed using an absorber and is quenched with an adjacent quench tower. The quench tower pumps will see SO2 and water with a PH of 2. Please can you confirm if 316L SS is suitable or shall I upgrade to CS + Clad Alloy 20. Thanks

CS with Alloy 2o clad will not be effective and in due couse there is a chance of clad disbondment due to pressure flucuation.It is better go go for solid Alloy 20 in this application.

DJ Materials Alloy 20 Cb3 or better still Alloy 31 with 6 Mo with N2 (equivalent with trade names :Thyssen Krupp - Cronifer 1925Mo/Nicrofer 3127Mo) may be cost effective and also would be better performing for your quench tower pump. Alloy 31 (6 Mo and with Nitrogen stabilized if available) would be cost effective and better C.R in this service.
