Pl. tell what should be the rating of threadolet . As per ASME B16.11, Pg2 ( Table ) rating of threaded fittings should be 3000 # for associated pipe of Sch 160 but taken is 6000 # . Run Pipe : 10%E2%80%9D, A53-B-E , ERW , Std Wt. , BE Branch Pipe : 1.5%E2%80%9D , A53 Typ F , S160, Threaded & coupled , Galvanized Corrosion All : 0.125 %E2%80%9C Spec : Cl 125 FF Dgn Pr & T : 150 psig & 170 F Service : Cooling water Threadolet : 10%E2%80%9D X 1.5%E2%80%9D Pl. tell the correct option viz. 3000 # , 6000 # or 9000 # & what is the standard . Thanks

Pme Considering cooling water service for the design pressure and temperature indicated - 3000# threadolet should normally be suffice. But considering your indicated C.A given as 0.125" - 6000# threadolet will serve a long time. One limitation to be additionally considered : Since your branch pipe to be threaded will be 1.5 " NB with a 10" Sch 160 rating main run pipe, you could think of 6000# threadolet though for cooling water service for this design pressure and design temperature 3000# will be sufficient for all practical purposes except the initial C.A given is 0.125". For your indicated C.A of 0.125" anticipated, you would be better off with 6000# threadolet from the beginning. Hope this helps C.V.Srinivasan Nishi Engineers Pvt Ltd India Dec 1. 2008 E-mail: nishi@vsnl.com >Pl. tell what should be the rating of threadolet .
