Dear Sirs, I donot have ISO 8502-9 or 8502-6 which speaks about measurement and acceptable tolerance of soluble salt over a blast cleaned on primed surface before further coating/painting by Bresle Test . Pl. discuss about the Industrial accepted practise ( Code/ Non-Code) of maximum acceptable limit of surface soluble salts ( mg/m2) on a blast cleaned surface or long holding primed surface before a recoat. Pl. regards

Debasis ISO 8501-2 or AS 3894 parts 10,11,12,13,14 is normally applied for evaluation of blast cleaned surfaces - both prior to and after blast cleaning. For abrasive blast cleaning - AS 1627.4 or ISO 8501-2 class 2.5 should be applied. For power tool cleaning- AS 1672.2 or ISO 8501 -2 class 2.5 should be applied For hand tool cleaning: AS 1627.2 or ISO 8501-2 class 1 should be applied. For surface profile measurements: AS 3894.5 Method A and for surface dust - AS 3894.5 Method C should be applied. Chloride level testing : AS 3894.6 Method A should be applied. Max. chloride level permitted is apporx: 50 mg/sq.metre. If this level is exceeded, re-wash, re test and re-blast until the chloride level is brought within the above acceptable limits. If surface is left without paint application for a long duration of > 1 day re-blast cleaning and checking is a "must". If after blast cleaning rain or moisture entry takes place in blast cleaned surfaces, again blast clean the surface to get to the required abrasive blast cleaning surface finish of Class 2.5 (Sa 2.5 finish). This is the industry practice with or without code allowed limits. Hope this helps C.V.Srinivasan Nishi Engineers Pvt Ltd India Feb 2, 2009 E-mail: nishi@vsnl.com >Dear Sirs, > >I donot have ISO 8502-9 or 8502-6 which speaks about >measurement and acceptable tolerance of soluble salt over a >blast cleaned on primed surface before further >coating/painting by Bresle Test . > >Pl. discuss about the Industrial accepted practise ( Code/ >Non-Code) of maximum acceptable limit of surface soluble >salts ( mg/m2) on a blast cleaned surface or long holding >primed surface before a recoat. > >Pl. >regards
