"Coal Preperation Plant Protection"

Question:

"I am a mechanical engineering student on vacation employment with Rio Tinto Coal in the Hunter Valley region of Australia. I have been asked to put togeather standard paint specifications for the various pieces of equipment in the coal preperation plant. The environment in parts of the plant is acidic due to the sulphure in the coal. Therefore I have broken the environment down into Internal and External with both being subjected to "General, Wet or Acidic" environmental conditions, this gives a total of six conditions. I would appreciate advice in relation to surface preperation, type of coating system, system selection or any other issues that might impact on the above."

Answer:

For information on coatings and paint specifications, try browsing the Steel Structures Paint Council web site at: http://www.sspc.org/.
