"burner nozzle material"

Question:

"Could you please suggest a suitable material to manufacture a coal burner nozzle used in a kiln of a cement plant. The current practice is to use AISI 310 grade material I am recommending a tool steel containing 20%Cr,2%C, 1.5%W,0.6%Va as the customer is encountering severe abrasive wear, My apprehension is will this material withstand thermal shock, spalling etc? If you have any thing else to suggest most welcome."

Answer:

I trust that you appreciate the difficulty and potential liability involved in making materials of selection recommendations for a process application where all important information may not be known, based on the limitations of a discussion forum. We are hesitate to do that. Based on the information you have provided, we hesitate to make even a suggestion. If you would like to discuss your potential application further, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail us.
