"Chromium in Stainless Steel"

Question:
"Is the chromium found in stainless steel Chrome +6 or Chrome +3?"
Answer:
I assume that you are referring to the ionic tri-valent and hexa-valent forms of chromium, typically occurring in aqueous solutions. If I remember correctly, the element chromium in an alloy exists in a crystalline lattice form as chromium atoms, surrounded by electron clouds.
