"cost data"

Question:

"I am working towards developing a cost comparison model. This model would compare the life cycle cost of steel and frp pipes. I would need some operational and maintenance cost data for this model. Is there anyone who could provide me with any of such data for pipes used in chemical industries."

Answer:

Suggest that you talk with the FRP and plastic piping vendors. I have seen sales information ( old publications) that compare the installed cost of FRP systems with new steel piping. You should note that there are substantial installation cost savings in a "solvent welded" frp piping installation as compared with an "all welded" carbon steel system. There are also savings in the total installed weight (less supporting steel)of the system as well as the increased life in corrosive applications. For underground systems, this translates into savings when a crane is not needed to place spool pieces into a trench. Try: www.fibercast.com and www.aosmith.com.
