"Corrosion on Carbon Steel"

Question:
"I am looking for information about corrosion of carbon steel (in about 53C) caused by chloride (HCl & NH4Cl corrosion)."
Answer:
Corrosion rates of carbon steel in HCL and NH4CL are two different subjects. In HCL, depending on concentration and temperature, the corrosion rates can be high. In NH4CL, I would expect the corrosion rates to be less, though not immune.

For more definitive information, you may want to browse NACE International's web site at http://www.nace.org and link to their bookstore for published corrosion rate books.
