Hi guys, Looking for an alternative material to Hastelloy C-273, in a medical device heat exchanger, where it will be exposed to heavy use of bleach (that eliminates stainless steels as possible option), so corrosion resistance is the top priority; but also cost and low density for the medical device weight. Do you know of an equivalent alloy to C-273, cheaper and resistant to chlorine corrosion? I appreciate any suggestion you can give me.

The configuration of the heat exchanger often affects the acceptable material selection. Titanium sounds like the best selection for bleaching service... What is the size of the HX and what is the configuration of the heat transfer surfaces ? MJC

Thank MJCronin The configuration of the heat transfer surfaces are helical tubes (spiral), with a total helical diameter no greater than 20 cm.

Luis.... It sounds like you need a little, "all titanium" spiral unit i would contact the Graham Manufacturing people up in New York who specialize in this kind of HX. ( the HELIFLOW Unit iswidely used) http://www.graham-mfg.com/heliflow.html Ummmm....it would save a lot of money if you could find another cleaning solution. MJC
