Chloride Stress Corrosion Cracking Photograph

Chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC) on the cooling water side of a 316L stainless steel exchanger tube. The cooling water contained approximately 400 ppm chlorides had been blocked in with the 350F shellside process still flowing. The black stringers are sulfide inclusions. 100X
