Problem Statement: Long horizontal run of diesel engine exhaust pipe, long enough to develop considerable condensation within. What is the appropriate material to use? Anything less expensive than SS available?

Dear Sir: Depending on the composition of the fuel, and if condensation occurs, you can expect perforation of carbon steel due to internal corrosion with time. You might consider a 430SS alloy if additional corrosion resistance is wanted. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
