I am trying to determine the temperature limits for a material called Corten A for applications involving cooling of SO2 gas at 900F. My concern is the oxidation/scaling of the material.

Dear Sir: Part of the answer to your question involves strength at temperature and what is the intended design life of the component. In general, the oxidation rate of Corten should not be especially high at 900F. However, we wonder why you have specified Corten as opposed to a plain carbon steel.
