According to Section 4.2.2 of NACE MR0175-2003, the use of Austenitic SS is limited to 60℃. Before NACE MR0175-2003 was issued, Austenitic SS was used without limit. But in section 11.3.1.2 of NACE MR0175-2003, the limit is less constrined than reported in the standard. In case of selectin material for sour service over 60℃, is it really austenitic SS can't be used ?

Raphael: NACE MR0175 has been superceeded by ISO15156. You should look to 15156 for the current requirements for the austentic SS in sour service. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

Dear, Divid Hendrix Thank you for your reply. I already checked NACE MR0175/ISO15156. But I have to consider only NACE MR0175-2003, not NACE MR0175/ISO15156. What is your technical opion about temperature limit (60℃) of Austenitic SS in sour service ?

Raphael: Understand that our responses do not constitute an official reply from the ISO committee. They have a formal process for handling interpretations and if you want an official response you need to follow their procedure. However, unofficially, the reason for the restriction probably relates to the potential for chloride SCC at temperatures greater than %7E60C. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
