Dear Sir, For one of the heat exchanger (AES type) services we are using RO (Reverse Osmosis) water to cool down the process fluid. RO water on tube side. The RO water characteristics are as below... pH range = 7.0 to 7.6 TDS range mg/l= 363 to 772 (avg for 30days 560.7) Total CL mg/l = 217 to 470 (avg for 30 days 347.5) Iron mg/l = 0.56 to 1.89 (avg for 30 days 1.09) Unfilter PO4-2 mg/L = 13.4 to 17.61 (avg for 30days 15.64) Filter PO4-2 mg/L= 13.1 to 17.03 (avg for 30 days 15.13) Could you please advise me the material of construction for the tubes considering life time of about 20 years. N S Babu: Type 304L stainless steel should be suitable for RO service. You did not describe the service on the shell side of the exchanger tubes. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
