We are having Urea plant in our fertilizer complex. We have shut-off valves in Nh3,Co2 and Ammonia carbonate lines to the reactor. They are parallel stem slide valves supplied by Messrs Motoyama Engineering works,Japan. They have zero leakage water at a test pressure of 260 Kg/cm2.The body and trim material are made of Titanium with the seat ring having a special alloy coating.I would like to know, whether any other material can be used for such valves .If,yes what should be the body and trim material?. Is there a valve manufacturer supplying such valves? With Regards, J.Charles Dhanraj. e-mail: chaljd@yahoo.co.in

We do not face any problems with the present MOC.But the maintenance cost of these valves is very high and the MOC being Titanium there are few export restrictions for its spares. So as we are going to procure a new valve we want to go in for an alternate MOC capable of giving the same performance at cheaper cost.Cost of a new valve with titanium as MOC is also very high.
