Dear fellow, I wonder if the SS 316L could be used to fabricate the vessle for the storage of the solution (ph=7) with the following chloride content: 1, 1000 ppm; 2, 5500 ppm; 3, 30000 ppm; If not , could you advise me what kind of metallic material could be applied? Thanks.

At chloride levels you refer I don’t think that SS316L is a good option. To be more helpful let us know the name or composition of the product you want to store. Regards

The liquids to be handled are industrial wastewaters. With its high salinity (1.0, 1.3 and 6) and chlorine content(1000ppm, 5500ppm and 30000ppm), I found it is hard for me to select the treatment equiment (diffuser, immersed pipe and so on)made of common stainless steel like SS 304. Therefore I wonder if the higher class material such as SS 316L could be applied. If not, could you tell me what kinds of metallic material could be adopted for the above applications.

I think you can use a glass lined equipment. Which is very useful for your application. Although it is costly it is recommended.

Based on what I have read above, it seems to me that carbon steel with a premium epoxy coating should be considered. There are companies that exist simply to provide premium epoxy gradel coatings for carbon steel surfaces in industrial wastewater systems. -MJC
