At what Cl/HCl concentration do these become a problem to SS316 or aluminum? I am processing a Hydrogen rich gas stream which is saturated in water, but will also contain upto 1.5 ppm Cl and HCl. Would these be a problem to SS316 even at such low levels?

Naimesh: Both 316SS and Aluminum should be resistant to 1.5 ppm Cl/HCL in the absense of concentrating mechanisms. However, temperature also plays a role and you didn't mention the service temperature. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

The temperature would reach a maximum of approximately 200 C (392 F). Would there be an issue with 316SS valves etc at this level?
