I just know that materials above are not recommnended in chloride ion environment at temperature above 60 deg C. Except being used in high temperaure I wonder if 304SS and 316 SS are never been used in any chloride content. I appreciate it if somebody advises me of this question. Regards,

Coral: 304SS and 316SS are used quite a bit in chloride service, based on their preponderance in the literature describing pitting, crevice corrosion, cracking. They can be used in chloride service, however, carefully. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
