In our DM Plant we are having frequent problems of rubber lining of piping getting damaged / swollen in 5% NaOH solution used for regeneration of resin. It takes time for getting the piping rerubberlined from outside perties. Can we use SS-304 piping material in 5% NaOH solution instaed of rubberlined pipes to avoid repeated rubber lining?

sanjeevgulaty: Depending on the temperature of the caustic, 304SS might be suitable; however, you should consider the chloride concentration of the caustic in making your selection decision.
