Dear All, Why austenitic castings are more stronger in creep resistance than their wrought counterparts?

Mainly due to its dendrite microstructure.

The creep resistance of steels is a function of chemistry and grain size, nothing more. Higher carbon is what directly improves creep resistance in cast stainless steels.

The cast structure has also larger grain size and hence, less grain boundaries and less imperfections. This is also one the reason that cast stainless steel has higher creep resistance compared to its wrought counterpart.
