Hello, I need you help to inform me what kind of special requirement we need if the proposed material is A 516 Gr 70 instead of SA 516 Gr 70 (Material for Preesure parts of Pressure Vessel) For your info that our spec for Pressure Vessel material is ASME specification and based on ASME Sec VIII Div 1. thanks and regards, Antonius Ginting

Antonius: A 516 Gr. 70 and SA 516 Gr. 70 refer to the same material by two different specification bodies, i.e., ASTM and ASME. The properties should be the same. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

both are identical, obsolutely there is no differance you may recertify this material as per UG 10 and use Raghuram Bathula

Check appendix-A of Sec. II part A to see acceptable editions of ASTM.

Generally speaking, only "SA" graded materials are acceptable for ASME pressure vessel construction. The "SA" designation implies a certain type of record keeping function to ensure tracibility of materials. There are some exceptions to this rule MJC
