In the suction of our CO2 compressor there is a silencer with woven mesh from s/s 304.recently we have faced with corrosion of the mesh which can cause some problem to compressor. Your comments with respect to this problem and use of new material would be appreciated. The operational condition of compressor is as below: Temperature: 25 - 35 C Gas concentration : 50 - 80 % CO2 saturated with steam masoud

Masoud: 304SS should be resistant to CO2 with steam at your stated conditions. Corrosion of the 304SS mesh suggests aqueous water (condensate) along with the gas phase. You should analyze a water sample to see what contaminents are present. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
