I am rebuilding a sailboat. The 1 inch solid brass rod rudder shaft was broken off and I want to replace it with 3/4 inch SS pipe (1 inch O.D.). My question is; will the strength of the SS be similar to that of the brass? Any help will be greatly appreciated. G Van

gdrummer You need to be a little more specific regarding the type of brass and stainless steel you are referring to. Those are two pretty broad material classifications. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
