We use 1mm thick CS80 spring steel to make model car chassis. To solder the small parts together we have to use an acid flux. No matter how quickly or how well the flux is washed off after soldering the metal tends to corrode. Some chassis from CZ do not seem to corrode and I am trying to find what steel they use. My first guess is 735A50 as it has a higher Cr content but I cannot find out enough about its properties to know if I am right. Stainless steel may well work but we find it difficult to solder. Can anyone help me please to identify a spring steel with similar properties to CS80 (or CS90) that can be soldered using acid flux without corroding.
