Hi everybody, I am trying ti use SA-387 Gr.9 material for a high-temp. vessel in refinery application. Although this material is very well listed in ASME Section-II Part-A/Specification SA 387, strangely ,I could not find allowable stress values for this grade of material in Part-D of ASME Section-II. Also, allowable stress for other product forms(e.g. pipe. forgings), except plate form, of this grade of material are available in Part-D. Can the forum please help me understand why is it so?

Apparently, this material grade was never requested to be used by pressure vessel fabricators.

Have you tried the allowable stress tables in ASME Section VIII ? I believe that there are also allowable stress values for plate materials in ASME B31.1 -MJC
