Will it be cause any dangerous internal stresses if stainless steel pipe welding is interrupted after each electrode change to allow weld to cool just below interpass temperature and continue welding? I belive that it is more convinient from the point of sigma and carbide precipitation since heat input will be lower than the istandard nterpass measurement technique just after completion of each pass. Material types used 304L/316L with thh range of 4-10 321 and 347 with thk range of 10 - 25 mm. For 321 and 347 above 19 mm PWHT is applied. Is there any web site to be advised? Thanks.

Bahadirtekin Thank you for becoming a member and welcome! Interrupting welding of 300-series SS should'nt materially affect welding-related stresses, but shouldn't be necessary if interpass temperatures are kept low (<600F). Your proposal should work but will slow down production. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
