Unstabilised SS like SS 304, 316 etc. suffers from weld decay during welding process itself. The dangerous zone is generally 450 - 800 deg.C during weldment cooling due to increased susceptibility of sensitisation there. Do anybody have any practising idea/ field implementation of Heat Sink Welding which can fairly minimise/ eliminate the sensitisation/ weld decay event and gives a good weld/HAZ ? Pl. share your working/ therotical/ PRACTICAL experiences.

Debasis Mitra Try Low Therme S.S filler wire manufactured by Advani - Oerlikon Fon. Try also low therme grade filler / electrode materials by D&H Sechron Both manufacturers are from India. I have used low therme grade of Advani grades and also D&H. as early as 1980. Heat input and sensitizaton problem have been fairly lo. HAZ or weld sensitization in un-stabilized grade S.S materials can be controlled to a large extent with these low therme grade filler / electrode materials of both manufacturers.
