Hi, Would like to know what steps may be required to clean a vessel (that is not PWHT) prior to steaming in caustic service for entry? 1. Rinse with cold water to a certain pH or Na concentration before steaming.? If yes, then what should be the max pH or Na conc? 2. Rinse with Hot water to a certain pH or Na concentration before steaming.? If yes, then what should be the max pH or Na conc? and what should be the maximum water temperature? 3. Is steaming acceptable at all? If yes, is there any maximum temperature that we should be targeting for? 4. What should be the required steps if none of the three options above are recommended Anotehr question along the same line - are there any special requirements for cleaning prior to steaming the vessels in MEA service? Thanks. sverma.

Smyrna, These people specialize in cleaning of acid and caustic tanks... I suggest that you contact them and ask about the typical cleaning sequence. http://www.heritage-enviro.com/services/waste/waste.asp I assume that you have an uncoated, carbon steel tank... If the steam is low-pressure (say...less than 150 psig.....and it better be) temperatures should be no problem for a tank that has had the caustic removed. I cannot see how you could possibly steam clean without removing the caustic first.....Hot caustic is very corrosive to carbon steel I believe your PWHT fears are unfounded for carbon steel tanks with the caustic already removed. Low pressure steam will not get you into a temperature range MJC

Dear Sverma! What tanks are necessary to be cleaned? If it is oil tankers we can introduce to you new technology with our reagent. You can contact me by e-mail: almico@twmi.rr.com Best regards, M. Sulla, Almico-USA
