MY COMPANY IS PLANNING TO CONSTRUCT ATF TANKS OF 1000 M3 CAPACITY. I WANT TO KNOW IF FIX CUM FLOATING ROOF TANKS OF THIS CAPACITY ARE MADE. I AM UNDER IMPRESSION THAT NORMALLY TANKS OF LARGE DIA ARE FLOATING ROOF AND SMALLER DIAMETER ARE FIXED ROOF. IS THERE ANY LOWER LIMIT OF DIAMETER BELOW WHICH FLOATING ROOF TANKS ARE NOT MADE

Due to stringent aviation/military spec nowadays the ATF products are stored in internal floating roof tanks to avoid atmospheric contaction. As you aware if you prevent air entry inside the tank gum formation can be avoided. For stringent spec. the space between the fixed and floating area are generally filled with inert gas and positive pressure is maintained to avoid product contamination. Refer API 650 for D/H ratio in selecting the tank.
