Dear Sir's, if possible I would like your appreciation. During internal inspection in aboveground storage tank the bottom lining was impregnated with product (spot zones). Just to check the bottom plate we sand blastering the lining in spot until plate. We found pitting with %7E3mm deep in 8 mm of plate thickness. Inside some pitting we found product. Following, we grinding the plate until remove local pitting and we found 3mm bellow (tip of pitting) laminations in bottom plate parallel to surface impregnated with old product (fuel). My question is: Regarding new product impregnation (%7E4 years old) we will try remove. And about old product bettewen laminations. Can I put new lining without any problem? (it's impossible remove all product!!!!)Concerning corrosion, what kind of attack can occur bettewen lining and substract? Many thanks Luis

Luis Patch plate addition to strengthen existing plates with lamination - in areas where maximum lamination is seen - is a common thing. This will improved even if products are sandwiched in existing lamination areas. Only the aesthetic appearance of the plates will be affected. Since this plate is at the bottom of the tank, you can do patch plate strength additions of near equivalent thickness. Hope this helps you C.V.Srinivasan Nishi Engineers Pvt Ltd India E-mail: nishi@vsnl.com March 28, 2008 >Dear Sir's, if possible I would like your appreciation. > >During internal inspection in aboveground storage tank the >bottom lining was impregnated with product (spot zones). >Just to check the bottom plate we sand blastering the lining >in spot until plate.
