We've recently started to see a significant increase in H2S concentrations in sour water and hydrocarbon process streams in some of our jobs. Some processes are as high as 30% to 40% H2S. Our Standard for heat exchanger coils is 304 ss. We're looking other materials such as 316 ss, Hast C, and Monel as an upgrade. Our 304ss is very soft, Well below the NACE guidelines. What is your experience with high H2S concentrations in heat exchanger tube? Any other relevant experience? Best, Joel Burroughs Technical Services Engineer

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jan-28-09 AT 02:14 AM (CDT)]if you're in upstream you've to look at NACE /ISO 15156 part 2. the limit for SS 316 is based not on ly on partial pressure of H2S but also on temperature , chloride conc.. S.
