Dear Experts, We had a major problem in our recent project. There was lot of mix up of LTCS material with normal carbon steel materials. We have done lot of excercise after commisoning of lines to ensure the line is LTCS or not. I would like to know whether some body have the same experience in some of there project. Also if some one have some good engg practices so that this mix up from construction stage. This will be helpful in developing in house procedure. Regards

PMI m/c cant differentiate between LTCS & CS. It is only the good engineering and warehousing practise which can save u from this dilemma. As U have already mixed up and in a mess try to check the material stamping with help of warehouse personnels or other responsible who can be hold responsible for this mix-up. regards >Dear Experts, > >We had a major problem in our recent project. There was lot >of mix up of LTCS material with normal carbon steel >materials. We have done lot of excercise after commisoning >of lines to ensure the line is LTCS or not. > >I would like to know whether some body have the same >experience in some of there project. Also if some one have >some good engg practices so that this mix up from >construction stage. This will be helpful in developing in >house procedure. > >Regards

Inspector 1978 For large projects, portable alloy analyzers and spot chemical check methods for different alloy elements will help and will avoid mix-up. Conventional and proper color coding system implementation for different grades of materials at warehouse for large project will be needed to avoid mix up Hope this helps C.V.Srinivasan Nishi Engineers Pvt Ltd India Feb 22,2010 E-mail: nishi@vsnl.com >Dear Experts, > >We had a major problem in our recent project. > >Regards

Another option is conduct Impact test at -46 degrees C. You would normally expect LTCS to give good impact values.
