Direct corrosion monitoring shall be located downstream, typically 2 m or 5 pipe diameters (which ever is the greater) of the injection point (to ensure adequate mixing).

The first probe downstream chemical injection to monitor topping corrosion shall be located as close as possible downstream where the dew point forms, which means several meters way from chemical injection point of overhead line of crude destilation column. lm
