It is known that Bitumen is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbon like naptha whearas CoalTar is not. Now if by any chance any minor pinhole forms at plate or lap slowly the bitumen will get dissolved and there can be chances of bottom plate settlements - isn't so? AS such if anybody has any experience with use of Sand+ Coal Tar mix for Tank Bottom Padding - Please share. with regards DM

I am very interested in your findings on this one as a pinhole failed tank (mounted on a bitumen impregnated sand) is currently being examined. What problems are you facing? Kind regards, Toby
