Generally , Natural rubber is used for rubber lining of Acid tanks( 33% concentration of HCL). We have experienced failure of the same. I understand there are several grades of natural rubber depending on the usage. Can anyone suggest for the above service-acid is stored at ambient temp, although design temp. is 65 DegC. Regards, Arnab

Arnab Try pre-vulcanized natural rubber (hard) made to Shore Hardness 75-85o or semi-ebonite or ebonite to Shore Hardness 90-98o. Ebonite rubber will need steam curing at site. Pre vulcanized rubber will not need any site steam curing. Failure in rubber lining if it is at support areas - you have to inspect the rubber lined tanks atleast once in 6 months. Use a spark tester for leaks or pin holes in rubber lined tanks. Trust this helps you C.V.Srinivasan Nishi Engineers Pvt Ltd India July 18, 2006 E-mail: nishi@vsnl.com >Generally , Natural rubber is used for rubber lining of Acid >tanks( 33% concentration of HCL). > >We have experienced failure of the same.
