Kindly share your experiences about spary welding with SS316 on CS (SA 516 Gr 60) for corrosion mitigation and it's merits and demerits. How does this method fare against conventional strip lining?

Are you talking about thermal spraying?Compare to clad the thermal spraying is having thickness limitation. However the metallurgical effect is very minimum in explosive cladded material due to skin effect. It vary on which application you are going to use.If it is a intricate shape like pumps, valves, etc thermal spray is best option.

With compliments to Krish, Spray Welding is like Cladding and has least issues of HAZ and dilution dilema. So with very thin deposition we can achieve an undiluted overlays. In Valve Industries for seat stelliting Thermal Spray deposition has tremendous benefit over manual hardfacing w.r.t. reduction of deposit thickness from mm to micron level with better long term application experiences. But only thing is a very very controlled surface preparation and roughness factor (rms) maintenance. Please share your area of application and reson for this thought process. best regards and applicator to please share more.
