I have an insrevice pressure vessel, that my client wants to certify to NACE MR 175. I have performed brinell hardness on the welds, but looking at MR 175 I can not figure out what are the accepptable values for my brinell hardness #'s I have recieved. Can anyone help me with this? Material is 516 Gr 70.

TJohnny For A 516 Gr 70 if Brinell Hardness measured values are lower than 200 BHN in the welds / HAZ and in Parent Plate material, it should meet MR 0175 requirements. MR 0175 had lowered the hardness values from earlier 240 BHN (earlier < 20 HRC). If Brinell hardness measured is < 200 BHN (approx. 93 HRB or lower than approx. 18 HRC) it should be OK. Hope this helps C.V.Srinivasan Nishi Engineers Pvt. Ltd India May 28, 2008 E-mail: nishi@vsnl.com >I have an insrevice pressure vessel, that my client wants to >certify to NACE MR 175.
