Dear Sir: Thank you for your interest in our Corrosion Topic Discussion Forum. Unfortunately, you do not provide sufficient details to propose a cause for the pitting corrosion of the aluminum haul truck casing. You don't state whether the corrosion was I.D. or O.D., what was the aluminum alloy or the environment. We would be happy to discuss your needs if you wish to call. Sorry that I did not provide enough information. This haul truck is used in our bio recyling plant to handle the sludge there. This was the place where we treat municipality's human and other kind of waste and we recycle it.This is one out of 11 trucks in that place. This is the only one with this problem. This pitting corrosion occured on the out side of the transmission casing, which is made up of aluminium alloy, that is what manufacturer claims. We are going to test that also. This is made by Alisson Transmission people. thank you for helping us. vvarug
