If a vessel was built before 2000 should the MAWP calculations use stress values at the time of construction or the latest and greatest stress values per the new Aden. And if a vessel is older than 10 yrs with no name plate or records such as a U-1A can calculations use new stress values?

Paragon Material stress values - It is preferable to get and use the same code given stress values for the year of fabrication (for calculation of stress values). However, if the older issue of code book is not available, you can use the latest with greater or higher stress value taken for the design temp for calculation purposes For vessels - older than 10 years - you can use the latest code calculation stress values - preferable to use the greater stress value Hope this helps C.V.Srinivasan Nishi Engineers Pvt Ltd India Feb 06,2008 E-mail: nishi@vsnl.com >If a vessel was built before 2000 should the MAWP >calculations use stress values at the time of construction >or the latest and greatest stress values per the new Aden. > > And if a vessel is older than 10 yrs with no name plate or >records such as a U-1A can calculations use new stress >values?
