we are getting pitting corrosion on Fuel Gas pipe line and fittings, what will be the better solution to avoid this or reduce this kind of problems, regards, karthik,

Karthik FG line and fittings - pitting corrosion seen could be due to internal condensation or H2S related internal pitting corrosion or quite possible externally caused due to atmospheric environmental marine /salt or corrodent contaminant deposit (external pitting). If you observe internal pitting then it could be due to condensation effect. If you observe both, internal and external pitting, then process or shut down improvement may be needed . This depends on the number of times the FG line is taken out of service and on the external corrodent effect seen in your plant. If you observe only external pitting then protective epoxy paint surface protection may solve the problem. Just to add that if it is internal, its good idea to open and inspect the internal and demister pads of knockout drum / vessel at its upstream (if you have one). Sometimes the design of KO vessel is sufficient or FG may have more NGL than the KO is designed for regards

Hello. There's a new technology coating now available, which when applied to any raw or even slightly corroded metal surface without any surface preparation, will not let it corrode for many many years. It is due to the fact that it is non-porous, non-brittle and non-peeling. (Though paint has major disadvantages, of the above kind.) You may try this and get rid of future problems of the kind you are facing. It works till 125deg C. [ashokjoshi124@yahoo.com]

Please check the H2S level in the FG Gas and moisture content.If the FG KOD demister pad is choked/not functioning well there will be possibility of moisture carry over into the system causing H2S Condensation corrosion.As an alternate please think of providng steam tracing to drive the moisture out.
