I am not sure why you selected SS304 Also I know of one instance where a Grab sample cooler made of SS316 failed in Steam line. For production of steam generally certain compounds are dosed and also phosphates may be dosed; for reducing free oxygen content and maintaining pH balance. These may cause failure of SS316 I am not too sure but Indian Boiler regulation most preffered alloy is Caron Steel grade to A105.
