Our association of nearly 200 condo owners are now required by insurance to change water heaters every 10 yrs, 1st cycle starting starting now. Based on local water quality average readings below do we need to use dielectric inlet/outlet connectors or can we expect 10 yrs life from non-insulated brass-to-steel connections? water heater nipple - assume galvanized carbon steel house plumbing - copper chloride-29.1(mg/L) sodium-15.2 sulfate-22.9 pH-7.2 tot dissolved solids-142 hardness(CaCO3)-63 Ca(CaCO3)-45 alkalinity(CaCO3)-25.3 dissolved Oxygen-9.7 conductivity-220 uMhos/cm temp-assume 35 deg C at fitting Many thanks in advance, garygm@peoplepc.com

You should always try and avoid dissimilar metal connections, whenever possible. However, we can't respond to your question regarding the 10-year replacement issue vs. timing of dissimilar metal induced corrosion. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
