Recently we got eight severly corroded dresser coupling bolts for failure analysis. This is used as a repair clamp for connecting a 16" Ductile iron water main pipe with a 16" SS water main pipe. When we analysed the bolt we found that it is only a mild steel bolt with 0.91% chromium in it.This is made up of smith-Blair Inc. We were also that this pipe is not cathodically protected. Can anyone help us to find a link where there is a research paper on the failure analysis of the coupling bolts which is cathodically protected or not protected. That is for our reference. thanks Vinu

vvarug: We provide literature search results on a consulting basis, if you need that help. P.S. A steel with 0.91% chromium is not a "mild steel". David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
