Hi, I need to make a microelectrode by corrosion of a stainless steel wire, how can I do this at room temperature? Can I use HCl? At what concentration? How can I stop the corrosion? Thanks.

Dear Sir: Exposing a stainless steel wire to an HCL solution will create a corrosion current if the wire is attached to an external circuit. The amount of current will depend on the rate of corrosion. To stop the corrosion, remove the wire from the solution. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
