I have a steam/ salt water Heat Exchager at desalter plant. This Heat-Exchanger is horizontal and it have aluminum tubes. Recently it have been observed localized corrosion at more elevated tubes around of tube-plate, next to seals to prevent contact between tubes and tube-plate. I would appreciated information related to possible corrosion mechanism and how to prevent this damage. Thanks in advance.

Dear Sir: If the corrosion is near the steam inlet, the Al tubes may be getting too hot. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
