Does anyone have experience with chlorine dioxide used for water treatment and 300 series stainless pipe and equipment? I am working with a company that is applying chlorine dioxide to their water system for sanitation and then lowering the pH to 3.0 - 4.0. Should I expect problems from the chlorides present and will the problem be greater as the pH is lowered? The acid used to lower the pH is sodium bisulfate.

I am more concerned with issues related to pitting. The system is very low pressure >1 psi. The problem is some of the components have polished parts that would be a problem if much pitting occurs. I have tested the parts in the solution at the anticipated pH range (with sodium bisulfate) but can't do the testing in house with the chlorine dioxide. Thanks for the help.
