I work in a foundry in brazil, and I made one cast curve in Sanicro 28, and this piece was some cracks, and now I need to weld this piece. The electrode is imported , and don%B4t have in Brazil. My ask is What is the problem in use electrode E316L for welding in this piece? And what is the electrode to weld this material? Regards Aguinaldo

Gonsalez: You can weld Sanicro 28 with a 316LSS filler metal however, the weld will not have the same corrosion resistance as the Sanicro 28 chemistry. If you cannot find any matching filler metal, consider a nickel-based alloy chemistry, such as alloy 625. This suggestion is made without knowing the intended application. The responsibility rests with the postee to know that, other than based on general corrosion resistance, the use of a specific non-matching filler metal will be acceptable to the end user and for the intended purpose. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
