Is SS 304 L is prone to stress corrosion cracking in Potasium Hydroxide environment? Can anybody suggest any literature on this?

Sathyan V: Sorry for the delay in responding to your post. As one of the hydroxides, potassium should exhibit similar cracking tendencies as does sodium hydroxide, which can crack 304SS above certain concentrations and temperatures. NACE has defined the cracking susceptibility of the 300-series SS in a caustic cracking curve, widely available. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.
