Does the pipe welding of SS321 to SS321 require PWHT? If not why?

Kumar: Typically, welding 321SS to itself does not require a PHWT as it is not a hardenable material and its composition minimizes sensitization based on migration of cbromium carbides to grain boundaries. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

As SS 321 & SS 347 are stabilized grade, we generally recommend stabilisation treatment, i.e., heating to approx 900 C, holding for two hr followed by air cooiling
